Irma Hassler Brown, age 97, of Ridgeville  passed away at 8:20 P.M. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Grove Manor Nursing Center in Grove City.  Irma was born in Boyers on June 30, 1916 to the late Earl B. and Hanna Barber Hassler.  Her early years were spent in Boyers and the family relocated to Butler.  Irma often recalled memories of her school days, friendships, and activities in Butler.  She graduated from Concord High School in Hooker in 1934.  Irma was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake.  Her favorite recipes were often requested by family and friends.  She was a cook for the Moniteau School District for 18 years, and she was a member of PSEA.  Irma had a knack for growing picturesque African violets and roses.  She was an avid shopper who enjoyed music, theatrical productions, holidays, family celebrations and traveling.  From her teen years, Irma was a member of the Ridgeville United Methodist Church where she was a teacher in the primary Sunday School classes and director of various church programs.  In her later years, she still enjoyed singing the old-time hymns.  Irma loved her family, friends, and neighbors and was always concerned for their welfare.  The Welcome Mat was always there for anyone who wished to come by for a laugh, a visit, or a friendly chat.  She was the happiest when she was helping or caring for others.  Irma will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.  Surviving are two daughters, Shirley M. Brown of Butler and Carolyn J. Brown of Ridgeville; one son, Daryl E.(Sandi)Brown of Eau Claire; and one grandson, Dustin V. Brown of Eau Claire.  In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Brown, who she married September 8, 1934 and who died November 18, 1983.  Friends will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 1 to 3 Wednesday, April 9, 2014.  Funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeremy Stouffer, of the Grove Manor Nursing Center, officiating.  Burial will be in the Rosewood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Dear Shirley and family, Extending my sympathy to you at this time. What nice times were shared with your mom and dad at Tillie and Lester's. Your mom was their person to be depended upon. With Love and Joy ,

Dear Shirley and Carolyn,
Its been so long since we have seen each other. I always enjoyed our visits to Ridgeville with Grandma Christy. Your Mom was always glad to welcome us into her home. How about all those times we played in the basement. How time changes our lives. I am sorry to have missed your Moms passing. I try to check up on Butlers happening ,but Mary Ann and I are traveling in our Motor Home and I cannot always get on line. We are now in Tennessee for a couple more weeks before going to our Granddaughter's wedding in Chicago.
God Bless,
Bill
