Ruth I. Minnear, age 81, of Butler, passed away at 3:50 A.M. Friday, September 5, 2014 at Concordia Lutheran Services in Cabot.  Ruth was born January 15, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA.  She was the daughter of the late James E. Davies and the late Ruth Metcalf Davies.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Muddycreek Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed traveling, four wheeling and going to camp in the mountains with her family.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren especially bird watching with her great grandson, Brendyn.  Ruth is survived by two daughters, Linda(Max)Baptiste of Butler and Patty(Chris)Yost of Eau Claire, one son, Kenneth Minnear of Butler, thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.  One brother, James Davies and his wife, of Pittsburgh, also survives.  Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Minnear, who passed away December 8, 2011, one daughter, Christine Metz, and one sister.  Friends will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday, September 9, 2014.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 10, 2014 with her grandson, Thomas Metz. Jr., officiating.  Burial will be in the Muddycreek Cemetery.

Lin, Ken and Patty,

I feel blessed to have known Ruth and to have had her as part of my life when growing up. She was a wonderful person and great lady.
