Ronald Cowen, age 60, of Butler passed away unexpectedly due to cardiac arrest  at 1:04 A.M. Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Butler Memorial Hospital.  Ron was the born September 1, 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA.  He was the son of the late Donald W. Cowen, Sr. and Mercedes Heinzl Cowen.  Ron was a Veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Grace at Calvary Lutheran Church in Butler, where he served as an usher.  He was a surveyor crew chief for Land Surveyors, Inc for over thirty five years. Ron is survived by his wife, Beverly  Cowen, whom he married October 17, 1981,   his mother, Mercedes Cowen of West Sunbury, one brother, Darin(Michelle) Cowen of West Sunbury, one brother-in-law, Mark(Carol)Prokay of West Sunbury and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  In addition to his father, Ron was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and one nephew.  The family will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Thursday, November 13, 2014.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Grace at Calvary Lutheran Church on the Diamond in Butler with Pastor Beverly Banyay and former pastor and his friend, Timothy Bupp, officiating.  Private burial will be in the Rosewood Cemetery.

You can never be prepared for the loss of someone you love; it comes without preamble. But take comfort in knowing that Ronnie is now resting in the arms of our Lord. Our deepest condolences to you and your family.
