Bertha Maye Reep Christie McKinney, age 90, of Hooker, passed away at 11:10 P.M, Saturday November 15, 2014 at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.  Bertha was born May 7, 1924 in Fairview Township, Butler County to the late Cecil Reep and the late Myrtle Bowser Reep.  Bertha was the oldest member of the Concord Presbyterian Church. She was a fifty year member of church where she was ordained as a Deacon, served as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, sang in the choir and helped to organized the Moniteau Area Food Pantry.  Bertha was a volunteer for Moniteau School District elementary schools for many years.  She was a homemaker and loved canning and quilting.  Bertha is survived by two daughters, Judy(Mark)Stewart of Hooker and Becky(Mags) Christie of Salem, MA, one son, James H.(Ann) Christie of Woodbridge, VA one step son, Alan McKinney of North Washington and four grandchildren, Andrew(Melissa)Stewart, Elizabeth Stewart, James H.(Kim)Christie, Jr. and Rachel Christie, one great granddaughter, Emma Stewart and one soon to be great grandson, Baby Boy Christie.  Three sisters, Jean Clark of Butler, Wanda Daugherty of Sligo and Mrs. Arthur(Shirley)Barnhart of Petrolia and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.  Bertha was preceded in death by her first husband, James P. Christie, who died August 1, 1975, her second husband, Merle C. McKinney, who died January 23, 2001 and seven siblings.  The family will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 and from 10 until the time of service at the Concord Presbyterian Church on Thursday, November 20, 2014.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. with Rev. James Steiner, interim pastor of the Concord Presbyterian Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Robert V. Mathias, retired former pastor.  Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Concord Presbyterian Church, the Moniteau Food Pantry or the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.

I am so sorry to learn of your loss and during this difficult time please know that one day your grief will be filled with wonderful memories of happier times. Bertha was a loving and caring person whose friendship is cherished by many and will be missed deeply in our community and by all who knew her. Bertha was such an instrumental person in the Reep Family Association- it would never have survived this long with out her help! May God comfort you in the loss of your mother, grandmother and all she was to all of you. She will be missed!
