Carmen E. Marterella, age 75, of Hilliards, formerly of Boyers passed away unexpectedly at his residence at 4:37 P.M., Friday, December 26, 2014.  Carmen was born August 16, 1939 in Boyers, PA.  He was the son of the late Daniel P. Marterella and the late Josephine E. Pratt(Perorazio)Marterella.  He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church(St. Alphonsus Parish).  He began working at the age of fifteen with his father at Marterella Trucking.  In 1987 he became owner operator of C.E. Marterella Trucking.  Carmen’s pride and joy were his sons, his grandsons and his truck.  Carmen is survived by his wife, Carol Hutchison Marterella, whom he married December 28, 1963, two sons, Daniel(Sue)Marterella of Boyers and Michael(Amy)Marterella of Chicora and three grandsons, Matthew, Aaron and David.  Also surviving are one brother, Donald(Karen)Marterella of Grove City, one sister-in-law, Mildred Marterella of Emlenton and several nieces and nephews.  Carmen was preceded in death by one brother, John.  The family will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Sunday, December 28, 2014.  A blessing service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 29, 2014 with Father James Bedillion, of St. Alphonsus Parish officiating.  Burial will be in the Epiphany Cemetery.

I was shocked when I read of Carmen's death in the Butler Eagle last night.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. It will not be easy but the Lord will be with you to guide your way.

Family of Carmen

Carmen would come into the shop for parts for his truck and everyone would smile.
over a cup of coffee he and I would solve the problems of the world.

he will be greatly missed what a loss to every one.

Carol, Bob and I are so sorry to hear of Carmen's death. I always liked Carmen he was such a kind person. We wanted to come to the funeral, but Bob got sick, I will keep you in my prayers. Love you Carol.......Your cousin, Ann

Very sorry to hear of Carmen's passing I just found out about it today. He and I worked together at Shedio Logging and my father worked with him at the strip mine when he first started hauling coal. He was always enjoyable to work with as we trucked together hauling logs. He will be missed by all.
