Betty Lou Hazlet, age 85, of West Sunbury, passed away unexpectedly at 6:25 A.M. Monday, May 4, 2015 at Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Betty was born July 17, 1929 in Hooker.  She was the daughter of the late Harold Eugene Wright and the late Grace A. Steinheiser Wright.  Betty had been a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church for over 73 years and served as an elder and deacon at the church.  She also was a volunteer with the Moniteau Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels.  Betty retired from Mellon Bank with over fourteen years of service as a teller.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roger(Nancy)Wick of West Sunbury, two sons, William David “Dave” (Wendy)Hazlet III of West Sunbury and Carney Hazlet of West Sunbury,  six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William D. “Bill” Hazlet, who passed away September 22, 2014.

The family will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 7 to 9 Monday, May 11, 2015 and from 2 to 4 Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Concord Presbyterian Church.  Funeral services will follow at 4:00 P.M. with the Rev. Robert V. Mathias, retired Presbyterian minister, officiating.

Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.

Dave and Carney, I'm sorry to hear about your loss! My memories of the Hazlet's is as bright as ever, and your family will always have a place in my heart. You 2 helped me build my house, and Dave was a great friend during and after our years at Lava. You have my sympathy in losing your mom.
