Claude D. Moran, 76, of Butler passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at VNA Hospice surrounded by his family.
Born February 7, 1941 in Grafton, West Virginia, Claude was the son of the late Gilbert Moran and Virginia McConkey Moran Ringler. Claude was a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1958 until 1963. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Parish in West Sunbury and the American Legion Post 243 in West Sunbury. For thirty five years, Claude was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters UA Local #47, currently #449. He was the proud inventor of the Moran Layout and Pipe Square. Claude enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, drawing, woodworking, driving his van, and mowing the lawn. However above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Claude is survived by his wife of fifty one years Nancy Hauser Moran, whom he married September 25, 1965; three daughters LeeAnn and her husband Richard McKenzie of Butler, and Stacy Bell and Lori Moran both of West Sunbury; six grandchildren, Ashley Moran, David Bell, Lauren and Madison McKenzie, and Michael and Alex Bell; two sisters Carol Emmel of Sandwich, Illinois, and Charlotte(Doug) Taylor of Indio, California; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother Charles Moran; one step brother Dale Ringler; and his stepfather William Ringler.
Friends will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday February 28, 2017 with blessing services at the funeral home at 11:30 Wednesday, March 1 with Father James Bedillion, of St. Alphonsus Parish, officiating.
Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery
