Ronald M. Haury, age 74, of West Sunbury formerly of Erie, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness surrounded by his family.

Ron was born April 16, 1944 in Medina, OH.  He was the son of the late Barney N. Haury and the late Eleanor M. Haury.  Ron was a custom woodworker and was a manager for Carter Lumber for over forty years. After his retirement he had been employed by Campbell Bus Lines. Ron enjoyed traveling in his motorhome, boating, fishing and riding his Harley.  He was raised in the Catholic faith.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Jimi Haury, whom he married, July 1, 2000; two daughters, Pam(Lou)Flori of Des Moines, IA and Deb(Todd)Logan of Hershey, PA ; two sons, John(Jeanne)Haury of Sewickley and Rob(Laura)Allison of Mt. Joy, PA and ten grandchildren, Alaina and Luke Haury, Logan, Chase and Jack Flori, Abi and Ian Logan and Dylan, Kathlyn and Shane Allison. His brother, Gil(Joyce)Haury of Grafton, OH and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Ron was preceded in death by his first wife of thirty two years, Bea Haury, and one brother, Larry Haury.

Ron was a simple man who lived his life in a way that set an example for everyone who knew him.  He worked hard, but enjoyed life thoroughly.  He was blessed to have loved two wives wholeheartedly, and was absolutely dedicated to his children and grandchildren.  His best efforts went into everything he did, from riding horses as a young man to building a business, crafting custom furniture and creating beautiful gardens.  As a patriarch and a friend, his impact will be felt for generations.

The family of Ronald Haury will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 7 to 9 Tuesday, August 14, 2018.  A Blessing service will be held at the funeral home at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 with Father James Bedillion officiating.
Burial will be private.

Dear Jimi, Pam, Deb, John, and Rob, 8-14-18

My sympathy to all of you and the rest of Ron’s family at this sad time. I have to admit that the few times I have tried to locate him and the rest of you were unsuccessful. Probably should have asked one of my children or grandchildren to help me.

I often remember the so many fun times Ron and I had. Most of all, I am constantly reminded of the many things he taught me .... about business, about being a man, but most of all, how he taught me to be a great manager like he was. I am thankful that we became friends. I regret how we lost touch with each other. Wish I had tried harder to reach him. Another lesson Ron still is teaching me. You are never too old to learn.

I also deeply regret being unable to be there at this most difficult time. As you may be aware, I have become an Ordained Deacon in the Diocese of Erie for the last 15 years. Tonight is the Vigil and tomorrow we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I am committed to serving at my parish these two days. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My bishop commissions all deacons to practice what we preach. I have said often at funerals where I preside, we believe that we will see our loved ones in heaven in the future. So I tell the mourners that this is not a “good-by”, but a “see you later” moment. Because of this, I have even overheard people at the cemetery say “see you later” as they sprinkled the casket as they left. (Sprinkling a tradition around here).

So I say, “see you later, Ron. May you rest in peace”

And may the blessing of almighty God be with each one of you.
Deacon “Bob” Walker
