Robert W. “Bob” Bell, 89, of Renfrew, formerly of North Washington, passed away December 24, 2018 at 8:24 pm at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Bob was born in West Sunbury on October 31, 1929 to the late Sylvester A. Bell and the late Lucille P.(Pearl) Wilson Bell.  After growing up on the family farm, Bob joined the US Army, and served in the Korean War.  Upon return, he worked at various jobs in the local area before settling in as a locomotive mechanic at Armco Steel, from where he retired after thirty three years.

Bob served his community as a member of the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department since 1949, including several years as volunteer fire chief.  He was a member of the Fire Chief’s Association, and the Emergency Management Coordinator for northern Butler County for many years.

After retiring from Armco, Bob was very active and enjoyed working part time transporting trucks for Hunter’s Truck Sales.  In his late years, he enjoyed going out to eat, spending time with his family, watching sports and listening to country music.

Bob is survived by his companion, Mary Ziegler, of Renfrew; three daughters, Kathleen Bell (Tim Anderson) of Millbury, Ohio, Kim (Don) Carothers of Butler, and Robyn (Steve) Zampella of Palm Harbor, FL; one nephew, several nieces and many great and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and an infant brother, Bob was preceded in death by sister, Rose Lee and brothers, Les, Lew and Merle.

Remembrance for Bob Bell will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the North Washington United Presbyterian Church in North Washington, PA at 11AM with viewing from 10-11 AM.
