Music by The Piano Brothers

Betty Jean Gillespie, 77, of Lake City, Erie County passed away to her Heavenly Home Thursday April 22, 2021 at UPMC Hamot after suffering a stroke.

Betty was born on May 19, 1943 in Geneva Ohio to the late William Barber Gillespie and late Madlyn Fern Southworth Gillespie.

Betty was a resident of Bethany House of the L’Arche Community and was of Catholic Faith. She enjoyed dining out and shopping. She especially enjoyed the Christmas season and sitting by the beautiful trees at Bethany House.  She loved a good cup of hot coffee and her hand lotions.  She will be missed by her friends and her caregivers.

Betty is survived by her brother, Jack Gillespie, and his wife, Judi, of Port Orange Florida and her cousins Gloria, Nancy, and James Gillespie all of Hilliards as well as many other cousins.

Betty’s family gratefully acknowledges and thanks the members of the L’Arche Community for the excellent care given to her.  They brought sunshine and love into her daily life.

Visitation will be held Monday April 26, 2021 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the William F. Young Funeral Home 132 Main Street, West Sunbury.  Services will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dan Miller of Ridgeville United Methodist Church officiating.

Betty will be laid to rest beside her Mother at Rosewood Cemetery in Ridgeville.
