Our beloved Katherine (Logut) Tiche, age 100, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 5, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Thank you to all of the Staff at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot for your excellent care.

Katherine was born on October 5, 1920 in Eldorado (Parker) to Anthony and Katherine Logut. She was raised on the Logut Dairy Farm in North Washington during the Depression where she walked a mile to school and worked hard everyday helping her Father with all of the outdoor farm chores.  After graduating from Concord High School, she worked as a housekeeper during WWII for prominent families in Butler and Pittsburgh and as a waitress at upscale Child’s Restaurant on 5th Avenue in Pittsburgh.

On October 14, 1946, Katherine married Louis Michael Tiche, a WWII Veteran, and lived in Boyers, PA for 66 years where she faithfully raised her family and loved attending the St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, the Boyers Echo club, and the Senior Center of Slippery Rock. She attended 50 straight high school reunions and served as President, Vice President and Secretary- Treasurer. She also was an avid stamp collector.

Most important to her were God, Family, and Friends. Her gentle loving spirit, her keen intellect, her beautiful flower gardens, and her fierce determination to persevere will always be an inspiration and a blessing to us all.

Katherine is survived by her two daughters: Darlane (Richard) Wiles of Havana, FL and Loretta (Robert) Smith of West Sunbury; her grandchildren: David (Carmel) Wiles of Hawthorne, FL, Jason (Roni) Wiles of Tallahassee, FL, Benjamin (Stacey) Smith of Memphis, TN, and Julie (Shafeeq) Sinnamohideen of Pittsburgh and one great grandson, Daniel Sinnamohideen. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Sankey, of West Sunbury, four Godchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Louis who passed away September 10, 1991, one brother Joseph Logut, and two sisters: Anna Ganger and Mary Rozic.

Private Visitation will be held Saturday May 8, 2021 at William F. Young Funeral Home 132 Main Street West Sunbury. Following visitation will be an Open Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am Saturday May 8, 2021 at St. Faustina Parish at St. Louis Catholic Church in West Sunbury with Father Rick Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Old Annadale Cemetery weather permitting. Masks and social distancing will be required.

I honestly do not know what to write becauseI wish this wonderful lady could have lived longer...
Katie always greeted us at St. Alphonsus with a smile and then it became a smile with a hug. She was such a blessing to see every Sunday and on other special occasions with family and friends.
Along with my husband and myself, all five of our adult children have special memories of Katherine.
God blessed us good with having her in our lives.

Dear Loretta,

I am sorry to hear the passing of Aunt Katherine. She always treated my mom Martha Sutton with love and compassion. I remember calling her to tell her that my mom had passed and we talked for a long time. I will always remember her for the love she had for my mom. God Bless Pam Sutton Steiner.
