Anthony "Pie" Cox Sr. Obituary

Anthony “Pie” Cox, 69 of Mahoningtown passed away Monday afternoon, February 10, 2025, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born August 17, 1955 in New Castle to the late Jesse and Katherine (Frabrazzio) Cox. He was a 1973 graduate of Ne-Ca-Hi.  Upon graduation he earned an associates degree in drafting from ITT Tech.  On October 2, 1976 he married Cecilia Cwynar.  They made their home and raised their family just houses down from his childhood home.  She survives at home.  Pie spent his early years employed as a mechanic.  He worked at various local dealerships including DeGruttola’s Service Station and manager at Burrelli Motors.  He spent a handful of years managing Worldwide Auto Parts before becoming a Sprinkler Designer at Aven’s Fire System.  While at Aven’s he became NICET certified. He spent 17 years at Aven’s and later retired from Fisher Fire Protection.  Upon retirement he worked along side his son at his plumbing company, Peep’s Plumbing.  He was of the Catholic faith.  Pie was a devoted husband, father and Papa.  He loved working in his garage. He especially loved rebuilding a Chevrolet Camaro with his son.  He also enjoyed hunting, playing bocce, golfing and Red Lobster.  In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and once he hung up his cleats, he coached tee ball and little league.  Most of all he loved his family.  Every Sunday was spent with them. He and his beloved hosted dinner each week for their family and friends.  There was never a shortage of food, laughs, or love on Sundays.  Blessed with being mechanically inclined, he had the ability to build or fix anything. Whether it was changing brakes, fixing the neighborhood kid’s dirt bike or repairing a neighbor’s lawnmower, he was always ready and willing to help whether it was family, friends, neighbors or strangers.

Survivors include two daughters, Jessica (Fred) Settle and Maria (Matthew) Stebbins and son, Anthony “Peep” Cox Jr. all of New Castle. He was affectionately known as Papa to his nine grandchildren: Kenzie Helle, Cece, Maddie, Fred “Bubba”, Sophia, Katie and Joey Settle and Gionna and Angie Cox.  Also surviving is one sister, Theresa (Ralph) Bulisco of Mahoningtown.

He was preceded in death by brother, Jesse Cox, sister, Kathleen Cox, sister-in-law, Judy Felix and in-laws, Abbie and Josephine (Mangino) Cwynar.

Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  The Young Family of William F Young Funeral Home, West Sunbury has assisted the family with arrangements.
