Barbara A. (Staiger) Rock

Barbara A. Rock, age 71, of Boyers and West Sunbury passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2023 at Allegheny General Hospital. 

Born in Grove City on July 29, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Merle D. Staiger and late Irene Kuspert Staiger.

Barb was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School class of 1970.  She was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church and retired from her career at First National Bank in Slippery Rock.  Barb loved her family, visiting the beach, and going camping and fishing.  She enjoyed cheering for all the Pittsburgh sports teams and was an avid NASCAR fan. 

Barb is survived by her companion, Keith Whipkey, of Boyers; three daughters: Jennifer (Jason) Soose of Butler, Lisa (Brian) Kennedy of Butler, and Lori (Larry) Lichter of Chicago; two sons: James (Missy) Rock of West Sunbury and William Rock III of Hooker; daughter in law: Devon Hambley Rock of Karns City; four grandchildren: Brisha & Baylen Rock and Tyler (Rachel) Rock & Megan Rock; one great grandson: Winston Rock; one sister: Faith (Frank) Barron of Slippery Rock; one brother: Donald (Helen) Staiger of Slippery Rock; and several nieces and nephews. 

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Rock Jr; her son, Joshua Rock; her grandson, Darrion Rock; and one brother, Dale Staiger.

Family and Friends will be received for Visitation from 4-8 pm Monday August 14, 2023 at the William F Young Funeral Home 132 Main Street West Sunbury.  Funeral Services will be held Tuesday August 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. John’s United Methodist Church 244 Hallston Road, Slippery Rock with her pastor, Pastor Earl Dykes, officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.  

Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
