Cindy Elder, age 70, of West Sunbury passed away the afternoon of Thursday December 19, 2024 while under the care of UPMC Shadyside.
Cindy, a mother, grandmother, sister and wife, was born on September 27, 1954 in Mercer County to her parents, Earl and Dorothy (Hedglin) Knight.
Cindy was retired and enjoyed spending her time cooking and baking for family, making chocolates for her friends, playing cards and watching the deer that came nightly for their corn “dinner”.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Elder, two daughters: Stacy Henry of Grove City and Tiffany (John) Dunworth of Mercer; one son: Justin “Jesse” Henry of Grove City; two stepdaughters: Melissa (Ryan) Shearer of Clay Township and Heather (Travis) Altmire of Eau Claire; six grandchildren and three step grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Haggerty of Greenville and brother, Jerry Knight of Harrisville, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Richard (Ricky), Eugene (Gene), and James (Jimmy) Knight and one sister: Naomi Dulaney.
Per Cindy’s last wishes, there will be a small private funeral for immediate family members only. Burial to be held Privately at West Sunbury Union Cemetery. Friends and extended family will be invited to celebrate Cindy’s life in an event to be scheduled in summer 2025.
