Dr. David Rothman Obituary

Dr. David Loeb Rothman, 76, passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

David was born on May 17, 1945 in Oneonta, NY.  He was the son of the late Dr. Fred Rothman and Beatrice (Deutsch) Rothman.  He was a 1963 graduate from Sidney High School in Sidney, NY.  After graduation, he went on to Fairleigh Dickinson University, and then NYU College of Dentistry.  After graduating from dental school he ultimately continued on to complete his medical education at Albany Medical College and general surgery residency in Rochester, NY at Strong Memorial Hospital.

He worked at Grove City Hospital for over 30 years, as well as, Butler Memorial Hospital as a general and vascular surgeon.  David was passionate about his career as a local community surgeon and was instrumental in teaching and training nursing personnel in the ICU at Grove City Hospital.  Additionally, David had served as a member of the Grove City Area School District board in Grove City, PA where he and his late wife, Christine, resided for many years.  

David enjoyed spending time traveling the country with his wife to visit their children and grandchildren.  He was known to be a great conversationalist and always could find something to talk about.  

David is survived by his loving children, Michael (Michele) Rothman of Olympia, WA, Mark (Amy) Rothman of Petoskey, MI, Lisa (Matt) Wessell of Morrison, CO, Justin (Kristen) Porter of Lake George, CO and Caitlin (Michael) Andryka, of Batesville, AR; nine grandchildren, Nathan Rothman, Gabriel and Lauren Rothman, Madeline, Andie, and Roy Wessell, Payton and Trenton Porter, and Elijah Andryka.  He was looking forward to meeting his tenth grandchild in December.  Additionally, he is survived by his sister Irene (Leon) Friedman of Simpsonville, SC and his mother-in-law Helen Sankey of West Sunbury, PA.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life Christine Rothman, as well as his parents and brother, Dr. Neil Rothman.

Funeral Services and Interment will be Private.
