Edward “June Bug” Lawniczak, Jr. age 82, of West Sunbury, formerly of Polish Hill, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at his residence.
Ed was born November 16, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of the late Edward Lawniczak, Sr. and the late Anna Szewczyk Lawniczak. Ed proudly served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He retired as a truck driver for Halls Motor Transport and after retirement he mowed the West Sunbury Union Cemetery for thirteen years. Ed was a member of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler. Before joining the Marines, he played football and baseball at West Penn and was a Golden Glove Boxer in 1952.
Ed is survived by one daughter, Lori Ann Bell, and her husband, Dr. William Bell, of Michigan; four sons, Edward “Eddie” Lawniczak III, and his wife, Robin, of West Sunbury, Glenn M. Lawniczak, and his wife, Cindy, of Ponchatoula, LA, Kirk Lawniczak, of Ponchatoula, LA and Steven R. Lawniczak of West Sunbury and two grandchildren, Dylan and Lauren Bell. One half sister, Robin and one half brother, Wesley also survive.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Gerrich Lawniczak, who passed away August 18, 2007, two brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Sunday September 23, 2018. A blessing service will be held at the funeral home at 8 pm Sunday September 23, 2018 with Father James Bedillion officiating.
Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
