Francis D. “Butch” Thompson, 74, of West Sunbury passed away July 13, 2018 at 1:54 p.m. at his home after an extended illness.
Butch was born on January 15, 1944 in Butler to the late Robert J. Thompson and the late Myrtle H. Galbreath Thompson. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in West Sunbury. He owned and operated Thompson’s Market in West Sunbury along with his family from 1956 until 2003. Butch was active in the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Company in his earlier years, a member of the West Sunbury Council for many years, and was active in many community events. His most enjoyable time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Butch is survived by his wife, Cindy M. Kale Thompson; three daughters: Diona Brick, and her husband, Regis, of Barkeyville; Yvonne Gamble, and her husband, Jim, of Grove City; Jenna Enscoe, and her husband, Ryan, of North Washington; one son: Jeffrey Thompson, and his wife, Soo, of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Jakob, Simon, Isabelle, Luke, Jordan, and Carly; two sisters: Mary Jane McDowell, and her husband, Jack, of Meridian; and Roberta Wick, and her husband, James, of Chandler, Arizona; and one brother: Richard “Gus” Thompson and his wife, Marilyn, of Eau Claire.
Family and friends of Francis D. “Butch” Thompson will be received Sunday July 15, 2018 from 2pm until 4pm and from 6pm until 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church in West Sunbury with Father James Bedillion officiating.
Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
