George A. “Gerry” Hazlet Jr., 82, of West Sunbury passed away the morning of Sunday February 20, 2022 at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on December 5, 1939 in Pittsburgh, George was the son of the late George Alexander Hazlet and late Florance Isabel (Bryan) Hazlet.
George worked as an equipment operator for Adobe Mining where he was known as “Plowboy” and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church where he served as Trustee and Elder. He also was a member of the Angus Association, the B.Q.A, and a previous 10-year President of the North Eastern Walking Horse Association.
George is survived by two daughters: Tracy (Glenn) Hedrick of Marienville and Wendy (Douglas) Protzman of West Sunbury; one daughter-in-law, Amy Hazlet of Worthington; one son-in-law, John Kozakovsky of Seneca; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one brother, Glen (Nancy) Hazlet of Butler.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Patricia L. Hiles Hazlet, whom he married on March 4, 1960 and who passed away on January 12, 2016; one daughter, Sherry; and one son, Jeff.
Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Wednesday February 23, 2022 at the William F Young Funeral Home 132 Main Street West Sunbury. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday February 24, 2022 at Concord Presbyterian Church 625 Hooker Road, West Sunbury with Rev. Bob Edmundson officiating.
