Gladys A. DeMatteis, age 82, of Boyers peacefully passed away the morning of Monday December 15, 2025 at AHN Wexford after a short illness.
She was born on January 1, 1943 in Butler and raised in Fenelton and later Herman as the daughter of late James E. and Gladys A. (Flick) Swartzlander.
She was a member of St. Faustina Parish formerly attending Epiphany Catholic Church in Boyers. She was an avid Steelers fan, enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, and sewing. She will be remembered for her love and care to her family, especially her love for her grandchildren and welcoming their friends as her own.
Gladys is survived by her husband of 62 years and 1 day, Richard A. DeMatteis, whom she married on December 14, 1963. She was adored by her three children and their families, Rick DeMatteis of Pittsburgh, Patti Martino (Gary) of Boyers, and Toni (Sam) Tiche of Boyers. She was the proud Grandma of grandchildren: Natalie DeMatteis, Ashley (Chad) Geibel, Lewis Martino (Morgan), Tarra Burk, Alexa DeMatteis, Kennedy DeMatteis, Kristina (Corey) Goyak, Ryan Heller (Ashton), and Victoria DeMatteis; great grandchild, Riley Geibel; and many grand dogs. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and best friend, Donna (Mike) Ross, of Slippery Rock; three sisters: Margret “Peggy” Rittenhouse of Ohio, Nora Spohn of Butler, and Wilda Kenny of Tarentum; and many nieces and nephews.
