Harry J. Joswiak, age 86, of West Sunbury formerly of Pittsburgh passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.
Harry was born February 14, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of the late Harry F. Joswiak and the late Helen Oswald Joswiak. Harry proudly served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy. He was a seaman dental technician stationed on the USS FDR. Harry was employed in the insurance industry and was President and Co-Owner of Independent Associates of PA, Inc. from 1986 to 2011. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Parish, having attended St. Louis Catholic Church.
Harry is survived by one daughter, Valerie(Philip)Unger of West Sunbury; two sons, Daryl(Jayne)Joswiak and Preston(Cynthia)Joswiak, both of West Sunbury; six grandchildren, Angela Kroha, Aimee(Ben)Hillard Adam(Autumn)Joswiak, Andrew(Melissa)Joswiak, William(Molly)Joswiak and Michael Unger and seven great grandchildren, Alicia Lostetter, Brody Joswiak, Sarah Joswiak, Zoe Joswiak, Lydia Joswiak, Huckleberry Joswiak and Owen Joswiak. Two brothers, Robert(Mary)Joswiak of Pittsburgh and Gordon(Audrey) Joswiak of TX, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. Najpauer Joswiak, who died October 4, 2011.
The family will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Monday, February 12, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father James Bedillion, of St. Alphonsus Parish, officiating.
Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
