Joseph “Joe” D. Carothers, 66, of Chicora passed away Friday June 4, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice after a four-week illness.
Joe was born on October 17, 1954 in Grove City as a son of Miriam M. Stevenson Carothers and late Harvey D. Carothers Jr. Joe was a member of American Legion Post 243 in West Sunbury. He retired from J.W. Steel in Mars after working there for more than 40 years.
Joe is survived by his wife of 43 years, Florence A. Carothers; three daughters: Mrs. Nichole (Fred) Allen of Slippery Rock, Mrs. Jennifer (Traves) Sutton of Chicora, and Mrs. Danielle (Harry) Toner of Slippery Rock; his mother, Miriam M. Carothers, of Chicora; six grandchildren, two step-grandsons, and one great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his Aunt, Mrs. Donna (Dave) Walker; two sisters: Diana (Edward) Hougg of Chicora, Debra (Jim) Spence of West Sunbury, and one brother: Benjamin (Sue) Carothers of West Sunbury.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:30 Monday June 7, 2021 at the William F. Young Funeral Home 132 Main Street West Sunbury. Funeral Services will follow at 8:30pm with Rev. Bob Edmundson of Concord Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
