M. Colleen (Slater) Benson

M. Colleen Benson, 70, of Chicora formerly of North Washington passed away Tuesday April 19, 2022 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 27, 1952 in Butler, Colleen was the daughter of the late James Slater and late Frances (Bowser) Slater.

Colleen was a member of the North Washington Presbyterian Church and also a member of the North Washington VFD.  She was employed at Servistar and USIS.  She enjoyed playing softball and was active in adult softball leagues in her earlier years.

Colleen is survived by two sons: Michael (Danielle) Benson of Waynesburg and Brian Benson (Charmaine) of Hooker; two grandsons, Parker and Matthew; one brother, Russell Slater of Meridian and several nieces and nephews.

Colleen was preceded in death by her husband John L. “Benny” Benson who passed away April 7, 2017 and one brother, James Slater.

Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday April 21, 2022 at the William F Young Funeral Home 132 Main Street West Sunbury.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday April 22, 2022 at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Edmundson officiating.  Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
