Ronald Smith Obituary
Ronald T. “GE” Smith, age 70, of West Sunbury passed away Monday January 1, 2018 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Ron was born July 28, 1947 in Butler. He was the son of the late Paul L. Smith and the late Sara Sproull Smith. He was a 1965 graduate of Moniteau High school as served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Ron retired from General Electric in Grove City after forty years of service. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports enthusiast, particularly the Pirates and Steelers and enjoyed playing in the band with his brothers, GE and the Toasters.
Ron is survived by two sons, Matthew Smith, and his wife, Jennifer of Chicago and Micah Smith, and his wife, Nedal, of Boston; two grandchildren Aidan Eugene and Ava Marie Smith of Boston; one sister, Elizabeth(Harold “Sim”)Grossman of West Sunbury; three brothers, Paul L. “Buck”(Judy)Smith of Bethel, OH, Robert S.(Loretta)Smith and Stephen W.(Shelby)Smith both of West Sunbury and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury from 3:30 to 6:30 PM Thursday, January 4, 2018. Funeral service will follow at 6:30 P.M. with Rev. Tim Britton, of the United Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
