Vilma M. Oberdeen, 94, of Boyers passed away peacefully in her sleep November 10, 2022 at home.
Vilma was born on January 26, 1928, in Ganister, PA as the daughter of the late Frank D. Oberdeen, late Frances Despot Oberdeen, and late Step-Mother Katie Oberdeen who raised Vilma.
Vilma was a member of the current St. Faustina Parish and previously sang in the St. Alphonsus Choir and also rang the St. Alphonsus bell. She worked for Iron Mountain for over 40 years and also worked for Dr. Bookbinder. Vilma proudly enjoyed taking care of her yard, her flowers, and also taking care of her cats.
Vilma is survived by her many nieces, nephews, and their families along with one brother, Stanley Oberdeen, of Alabama, and her cat Minnie.
Vilma was preceded in death by four sisters: Dorothy Oberdeen, Mary Hamilton, Ann Dillaman, and Verna Craig; one brother, Frank “Toy” Despot; and her lifelong companion, Don Christie.
Family and Friends will be received for Visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday November 14, 2022, at the William F Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street West Sunbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday November 15, 2022 at St. Louis Church of St. Faustina Parish in West Sunbury. Everyone please meet at the church. Burial will follow in Epiphany Cemetery, Boyers.
